Kelsey & Kevin’s Engagement Session | Houston, TX

Kelsey and Kevin are citizens of the world. They met in South Korea, grew up in New England, and got married in Belize. Lucky for me they currently live in Houston.

Kelsey had about a million ideas for their engagement session, but the one she loved the most was the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH). They had shared a lot of good memories at the museum and thought it was the best place in Houston to tell their story. They also wanted to include their Basset Hound, Lucy in their photos, as their family would be incomplete without her.

We started at MFAH’s sculpture garden, taking advantage of the hour or so before sunset with good light. There’s a rooftop view of the city, as well as some beautiful and weird large-scale outdoor art. Kevin scheduled a time with the museum to give us private access to a gallery and we headed in at the appointed time. We took photos with some of Kelsey’s favorite art, and the two of them sitting snuggled up on the gallery’s benches—and Kevin even took a knee to ask for Kelsey’s hand (again.)

It’s a fact that dogs and art museums don’t mix, so we met up at the local park where Kelsey and Kevin take Lucy most days. In the center of the park is a giant Oak tree with intricate curling branches—a familiar sight in Houston. Lucy was right at home, and we got a ton of great photos with a completely different feel than the museum.
